Beauty in the Eyebrow and the Beholder

My beauty journey continues as I explore the world of Permanent Makeup Artistry (“PMUA”). In the beginning of the year, I obtained my NYS Tattoo License and practiced the skill of microshading - a tattoo procedure made specifically for the eyebrows - to enhance the natural structure of your eyebrows with a flawless “make-up” look that lasts for at least 3 years.

I’m learning so much with every trusting client that honors me the opportunity to microshade their eyebrows, it’s been a passion of mine for over a decade and taking part of such an evolving art has brought peace to my heart and completes me as a creative spirit.

My imagination is a wonderful place sometimes. I like to think up scenarios where my past-lives from different era’s of Make-up sit at an elegant round table for a conference on what style to do my eyebrows for the day. Am I going for a sharp ancient Egyptian style to pay homage to Horus? something brilliant like the medieval Chinese and Japanese Noblewomen during the Tang Dynasty? Maybe go for something more cinematic like the chic thin-lined styles of the Roaring 20’s or the low-maintenance fashion of the bold and beautiful eyebrows in the 1950’s/60’s…Elizabeth Taylor had one of the best sets of eyebrows I’ve ever known to grace the silver-screen!

There is a style for every spirit, I don’t think we should ever limit ourselves to the “trends” of the present when our souls call for another expression that doesn’t fit with what’s “hip”. Explore it! even if the rest of the world around you finds it crazy! Word of advice- just really do your research and have an understanding of any style you desire to recreate. Educate yourself on what you’re doing and where your aesthetic comes from…Bad beauty experiences often happen when we don’t properly prepare ourselves with information for pre and post-care of any cosmetic procedure, whether it be permanent or temporary.
